David Alexander, CEO of Sheer Publishing Africa, will host a masterclass on learning to make money from writing songs.
The “How to make money from writing songs Masterclass” will be focused on various areas of music publishing, such as how much does it pay to get your song onto a television programme or film or even better – a commercial. In addition, Alexander will touch on what happens if your song lands on the internet.
Alexander will have answers to questions like this:
• How you get paid when your song plays on the radio?
• How long does it takes before you receive payment for your song?
• Who is supposed to look after all of these things for you as a writer?
Come and join in the masterclass with Alexander, as he explains the workings of the music publishing business and how you need to protect yourself in a world where the digitisation of everything is leading to a reduction in earnings for songwriters all over the world.
Alexander will be available to answer any questions you may have about the music publishing business – including how you could get your song onto the next Black Panther film.
The masterclass will take place on April 7, 2018 (Saturday) from 10:30am to 12:30am at Paul Bothner Music in Claremont. Tickets can be purchased online and costs R50, or R70 at the door.
