|The South African Guild of Motoring Journalists has announced that Michelin Tyre Company South Africa has come on board as headline sponsor of the Motor Sportsman of the Year competition for 2017 and beyond.
In existence for 24 years, the Motor Sportsman of the Year competition also incorporates the Colin Watling Award, which acknowledges the achievements of an individual or motor sport body during each year.
“It is wonderful to have Michelin South Africa, who are fully involved in high-performance tyres for road racing cars and motorcycles, as our headline sponsor,” says Bernard Hellberg Jr, chairman of the Guild.
Says Gaganjot Singh, commercial director of Michelin South Africa, “Michelin Tyre Company South Africa endeavours to take part in racing partnerships that have meaning in terms of future mobility. We support our partners to victory, demonstrating the outstanding quality and performance of our products. This success is then the basis for developing innovative technology for the benefit of the drivers everywhere.”
The awards – for motorsport achievements between February 2017 and the end of January 2018 – will be presented at a ceremony on Tuesday, 10 April 2018 after the Easter weekend.
