Local artist Cassper Nyovest took on the big challenge – to fill up FNB Stadium, a move that very few local artist would attempt. On November 29, he announced that the most wanted tickets (Golden Circle) are sold out, but did he manage to sell out the rest of the tickets?
On Sunday, Cassper Nyovest announced that 68 000 people attended the Fill Up FNB Stadium show, this surpasses Justin Bieber, Rihanna and few other international acts who had their concerts at the Soccer City.
The Mahikeng-born rapper has been getting a lot of support for this show, with the likes of the Family Tree members, fellow-musicians, politicians, and sponsors from the soft-drink producer, Sprite, the SABC, Ciroc SA and more.
This was a great night for the South African hip hop industry, maybe history in the making. From performance, the stage, the crowds and music features.
This would be the longest article if we were to break down each and every detail from the show, to help sum it all up, these are the top five highlights from Fill Up FNB Stadium:
Even though he had already announced the guests who will be joining him on this show via social media, it was great to see Tshego, Nadia Nakai and Cassper sharing the stage.
During the Fill Up Orlando Stadium show, Cassper had the most impressive stage setting, it was great that he took it to another for the FNB show. He had two massive sculptures of lions on each side of the stage, multiple cultural attires throughout the show, and impressive surround system and visuals.
A day before the concert more supporting acts were announced. Additionally, the South Africa’s Department of Arts and Culture was mentioned as one of the sponsors. Other featured artists included: Major League DJs, Riky Rick, Babes Wodumo, Zakwe, Distruction Boyz and more.
The fans got the opportunity to see Cassper and Kwesta perform Ngud, to top it off, Kwesta performed his new single, Spirit, which features Wale.
Last but not least, everyone has a favourite song from his catalogue, but fans can never get enough of Doc Shebeleza, Tito Mboweni and Superman.
Fill Up FNB Stadium is launched in support of his third studio album, Thuto, which features artist such as Goapele, Tsepo Tshola, Nadia Nakai and more. We are sure looking forward to seeing what Cassper Nyovest will fill next. He has hinted his next stop:
