This month, the cinemas will be graced with the comically-dramatic yet deeply convincing performance by the multi-award winning actress Anne Hathaway in the sci-fi action comedy, Colossal.
The film is written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo, known for his work on Timecrimes (2007) and Extraterrestrial (2011).
Hathaway plays the role of Gloria, an out-of-work party girl forced to leave her life in New York City and move back home. When reports surface that a giant creature is destroying Seoul, she gradually comes to the realisation that she is somehow connected to this phenomenon.
In the film, with every carefully crafted scene, the characters entertain their audience with freakishly funny moments, but it also aims to convey an important message about how our past effects our future.
Everyone has a past, everyone has a childhood and what this movie communicates to its audience in its ‘colossal’ portrayal is that every element of our life moulds us into the people we become in our adult lives. This is evident through the characters of the monsters in the film. Both the past and the future, matter in the present.
The film also stars Jason Sudeikis, as Oscar, and Austin Stowell, as Joel, who together on-screen bring the monsters to life.
Colossal will be in cinemas on April 13, 2018, rated 16DLV. For further information on Colossal visit www.facebook.com/sterkinekorentertainment or join in the conversation with @SterEnt using #ColossalSA on Twitter.
